We woke up here to the same old Groundhog-Day like bad news, more deaths in Iraq. Every morning on the radio, another announcement from Centcom.

This morning it was two, and one was in a convoy in Baghdad. So we thought of you and sent up a prayer to all the forms of God that it wasn't you...

Which means that it's some other poor person who doesn't get to leave there, and whose loved ones are totally griefstricken today. But I do thank the many forms of God that you are okay.

We waste so much time and money destroying the beautiful things that we're given, including other people, that it makes me cry. And someday - within this decade - I would like to see you, Riverbend, and Salam Pax all sitting together at a symposium table, talking about what you saw, how you felt, what you experienced, and how to move on from this. And laughing together.

Peace be with you-

I've seen many photos of Baghdad, but yours makes me feel like I'm right there witnessing the scenes first hand. Right now I feel that I have been out convoying. Your building with the tuna lid roof is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Have collected a photo of the special republican guards marching there on review for Saddam Hussein. Take care (as if I need to tell you!!!) Wed 27-Aug-2003 22:14

i am like the rest of the people is glad you are safe ,although i look to the american army as an occupier and an enemy ,i look to you as a friend ,i hope the rest of american people take a notice , you don't have to do much to be our friend ,we need to connect to the human side in you ,but occupying our land will make us hate you more ,we don't forget or forgive. stay safe my friend ,i definitly learned tody [ when i was afraid about your safety ] that i don't hate americans , i only hate america's policy Fri 29-Aug-2003 01:16

I laughed when I saw the sign on the Mess Hall door! Is military chow so bad you need to defend your right to eat it? I enjoy looking at your pics, even if they are a little fuzzy. They have the look of what your world is really like. Fri 29-Aug-2003 17:50
